Sirdaryo Region is located in central Uzbekistan. Its capital city is Guliston, about 118 kilometers away from Uzbekistana's capital Tashkent. It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Tajikistan to the south, Tashkent Region to the east, Jizzakh Region to the southwest. Ethnic groups living in the region include Uzbeks, Russians, Tatars, Kazakhs, Tajiks and Koreans. The economy is based on agriculture, with heavy reliance on cotton and cereal crops. Minor crops include grapes, melons and potatoes. Industry consists of machinery manufacturing, construction, light industries and flour processing. The Pengsheng Industrial Park funded by Zhejiang enterprises in Sirdaryo is the first industrial park jointly developed by the two countries.

Zhejiang and Sirdaryo signed the letter of intent on friendly exchange relations in May 2018.
