Asturias is the autonomous and historic region located in northern Spain and north of the Atlantic Ocean with a mild and humid climate. It encompasses over 78 cities, among which Oviedo is the regional seat and Gijon the third largest port city in Spain. Asturias has a high degree of industrialization and its main industries include agricultural processing, steel, metallurgy, shipbuilding, chemical engineering, and power generation. Industrial products include cement, glass, food, beverage, leather, textile and so on. Asturias has a well-developed transportation system. Two industrial ports at Gijon and Avires have dedicated terminals for steel and energy. Air traffic in recent years has also shown significant increase. Asturias is rich in cultural heritage, three of which are World Heritage Sites.
