Campania is a region in southern Italy at the southern foot of the Apennine Mountains and stretches along the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is the most densely populated region in Italy, encompassing 5 provinces and 551 municipalities. The capital city is Naples. Campania relies heavily on agriculture on its coastal plain as the inland is mostly covered by mountains without water resources. Campania is Italy's major producer of high-quality horticultural crops which have replaced food crops over the years. Industrial development is centered on Naples and Salerno, with a major concentration on machinery manufacturing, food processing, textile and garment, leather and shoemaking, metallurgy, automobile, shipbuilding, chemical engineering, medicine, building materials, etc. It is worth noting that agricultural processing plants spread over the region, producing cheese, tinned tomatoes, salami, jam and pastries. The region is easily accessible with the port of Naples as an important passenger and cargo terminal for Italy and the Mediterranean region. Campania has a long history of developing tourism which has become an important source of income. Campania is celebrated as one of the greatest tourist attractions of Italy for the beauty of the coasts, the Greek and Roman archaeological ruins, and stunning natural lanscape. One of the most popular tourist destination is Pompeii.

Zhejiang and Campania established friendly exchange relations in September 2005.
