Tuscany is known as the great repository of art and historic treasures with significant cultural influence. As the birthplace of the Renaissance in Italy, Tuscany is home to many prominent artists and scientist. Tourism is the mainstay of the regional economy. Tuscany's popular tourist attractions include art cities like Florence, Lucca, Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano, coasts and little islands such as Island of Elba. Marble mining in places like Carrara and Massa is another important source of income for Tuscany. Rich mineral resources give rise to the processing and production industry of ceramic tiles and building materials.

Zhejiang and Tuscany signed the memorandum of cooperation in July 2011.
