  • Digital economy

    Zhejiang has taken the lead in China in developing the digital economy by prioritizing the digital economy as its No.1 Project, implementing a five-year accelerating plan and speeding up the construction of a national digital economy innovation and development pilot zone. Digital economy has become a "golden business card"of Zhejiang and has promoted the high-quality economic development throughout the province.

    In 2014, Zhejiang pioneered in fostering the Internet-based information economy. In 2017, Zhejiang proposed to implement the "No.1 Project" of digital economy. In 2018, Zhejiang formulated and implemented the national digital economy demonstration scheme and the five-year accelerating plan of digital economy, focusing on digital industrialization, industrial digitization and governance digitization to promote the innovative development of Zhejiang's digital economy in a systematic and all-round way. With concerted efforts of the whole province, significant progress has been made in landmark projects of city brain,mobile payment, "Three Zones and Three Centers" and so on. The "three zones" are the leading zone of digital industrialization development, the demonstration zone of industrial digital transformation, and the leading zone of digital economy system and mechanism innovation; The "three centers" are the digital technology innovation center, the new trade center and the new financial center.

    As a result, the added value of the core industriesof Zhejiang's digital economy continuesto rise, from 285.4 billion yuan in 2014 to 702 billion yuan in 2020. In 2020 alone,it increased by 13% from a year earlier, growing against the adverse impact of the pandemic.

    We will continue toimplement the "No.1 Project" of the digital economy,pioneer indigital industrialization, buildthenational industrial Internet demonstration area, andtake the lead in digital infrastructure innovation.With steady progress on above-mentioned fronts, Zhejiang's digital economy is positioned to embrace broader prospects and more opportunities in parallel development.


    Life and health

    In recent years, Zhejiang has focused on the coordinated development of the life and health industry covering all sectors across the whole chain with forward-looking steering planning, closed-loop governance on major scientific breakthroughs. Zhejiang endeavors to allocate scientific and technological resources to the life and health industry effectively and with precision to facilitate a number of domestically influential scientific and technological achievements. Zhejiang's first Special Prize and First Prize in National Science and Technology Award are both in the life and health industry.

    Zhejiang has adhered to the concept of development led by government, participated by society and multiple parties making coordinated efforts. With leading industrial players at the forefront to fuel the growth of industrial cluster, and government and market work in tandem, Zhejiang is strengthening policy guidance and support,  enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises, and driving the formation of industrial clusters. Zhejiang will step up policy supply, optimizere source allocation, deepen institutional reform, so as to unleash the potential of innovation and entrepreneurship in the life and health industry with an "optimal ecosystem".


    New materials

    New materials industry is one of the strategic emerging industries and one of the seventrillion industries Zhejiang is fostering with prioritized efforts. The Action Plan of Accelerating the Development of New Materials Industry in Zhejiang Province (2019-2022) has made it a priority to make breakthroughs in a number of key strategic materials, upgrade a number of advanced basic materials and preempt competitors in the development of a number of cutting-edge new materials.

    As a province with a strong new materials industry, Zhejiang has achieved rapid growth in the industry during the 13th Five Year Plan period, giving rise to a number of excellent new materials enterprises, leading technologies and products. Particularly, Zhejiang enjoys unique cluster and leading edges in magnetic materials, fluorosilicone new materials, high-performance fibers and so on. In 2018, the annual output of the new materials industry in Zhejiang totaled 650 billion yuan. By 2022, it is expected to exceed 1 trillion yuan, with an increase of more than 53% over 2018.
