    Seoul Special City, the capital of the Republic of Korea, is located in the western center of the Korean peninsula with the Han River running across the city. Seoul is the largest city on the peninsula and one of the major financial cities in Asia. It is also the political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural center of South Korea. There are 25 autonomous districts and 423 administrative “dong”units in Seoul. Seoul has a temperate monsoon climate. Famous attractions include Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces. 

    Seoul depends on import for main industrial raw materials due to few mineral resources and small reserves.Seoul has a larger proportion of finance, real estate, telecommunications, wholesale and retail in its economy than any other region in South Korea. Seoul is one of the world's top ten financial centers and a major economic center with the world's fifth highest consumer price index. It is also a digital city, with the world’s fastest Internet access and the highest digital opportunity index.

    Seoul is home to many universities, including the famous Seoul University, Korea University, Yonsei University, etc. There are over 100 museums in the city, such as the National Central Museum, the National Folk Museum, the Lotte World Folk Museum, and Museum Kimchikan. The city has thousands of theaters and art galleries, such as Sejong Cultural Society, the National Theatre of Korea, the National Classical Music Institute, LG Arts Center, KBS Hall, Seoul Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Art at Deoksugung Palace, Lotte Museum of Art and so on.

    Main religions of Seoul include Christianity, Catholicism, and Buddhism. For centuries, the Confucian system of thinking and living has influenced South Korea continuously since the first period of the formation of states in the peninsula.
