Siem Reap Province is located in the northwest of Cambodia, 314 kilometers away from Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital. Siem Reap City, the provincial seat, has a population of 135,000. The province is rich in cultural relics and tourist resources, including 292 ancient temples. The famous Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the seven wonders of the world, is only six kilometers north of Siem Reap. Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia, is located in the southern part of the province. Tourism, agriculture and fishing are the mainstay industries of the province.

In contrast to the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap City is quiet and safe. Angkor Wat is the biggest attraction for visitors to the province while Tonle Sap Lake as the hub of Cambodian land and water navigation systems is also a good choice. You can take a boat ride and experience the traditional Cambodian lifestyle. Houses on the water, river cruise for sunset and visits to bird habitats are all fascinating attractions. Local stone and wood carving schools and silk plants are also popular places for tourists. The city is so small that there is no need for public transportation. Everything is within walking distance. Historic temples and monuments are not far from the city proper. It's safe to go out at night. People in the city are very hospitable.

Siem Reap has a tropical monsoon climate with a rainy season from May to October and a dry season from November to April. The annual average temperature is 24 degrees Celsius. The best season for travel is from December to February with a mild weather and little rainfall.

Zhejiang and Siem Reap established friendly exchange relations in 2000.
