    East Java is an Indonesian province bounded by the Java Sea to the north, the Indian Ocean to the south, and the Bali Strait to the east. It includes the eastern section of the Java Island and surrounding islands, most notably Madura, Bawean, and Kangean. It covers an area of 47,900 square kilometers, accounting for 2.5% of the total land area of Indonesia, with 29 counties, 8 medium-sized cities, 609 townships and 8,400 villages under its administration. East Java occupies an important place in Indonesia's history and development. It is the birthplace of the country's founding president Sukarno. It is also a multi-religious province that offers a perfect blend of nature and culture. Surabaya, the capital city, is the second largest city in Indonesia. 

    East Java is Indonesia's second largest rice producer. It is also a major producer of rubber, which accounts for 22% of the total national output, cloves, cocoa and tobacco. With a long coastline, as well as inland rivers and lakes, East Java is the second largest fishing and fishery processing center, and one of the largest shrimp production regions.It is rich in oil and natural gas resources and has the world's longest underground oil pipeline. The province is also abundant in resources such as limestone, coal, marble, copper, quartz, andesite and gold. Its industrial zones include  the new ones in GRESIK, north of Surabaya and other major cities. These industrial zones are crucial to the development of Surabaya and East Java.
