Nanxun Ancient Town, with a history of more than 700 years, is also Huzhou's only 5A national scenic area, the nation's highest rating for scenic spots. It was founded in 1252 AD, towards the end of Emperor Chunyou's reign during the Southern Song Dynasty. The town is one of the best-preserved old towns in the region and is currently among the top six ancient towns in southern China.
