Zhoushan
Zhoushan is the first prefecture-level island city in China. It is located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the East China Sea, approximately 500 nautical miles from major ports in Northeast Asia and the western Pacific. It serves as a major gateway for ocean-river intermodal transport, and for the Yangtze River Delta region to further reach out to the outside world. Renowned for its Buddhist culture and fishing industry, the city is famed as the "Buddha Realm between Sea and Sky" and the "City of Fishery and Ports". Zhoushan covers 22,200 square kilometers (20,800 of sea area and 1,440 of land area), with 1,390 islands and a permanent population of 1.158 million by the end of 2020.
