Secretary Yuan warmly welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced to them the economic and social development of Zhejiang Province. He said that Zhejiang is now striving to become a pioneer and model in socialist modernization with high-quality development and common prosperity. Secretary Yuan said that we are willing to take the visit of foreign diplomats to Zhejiang as an opportunity to further promote cooperation in areas such as the fight against COVID-19, economic and trade, science and technology, as well as people to people exchanges, in an effort to strengthen our partnership in a wide range of areas so as to deliver a better life to and build a community of shared future for our peoples. We welcome all diplomats to visit more places in Zhejiang and feel for themselves the effective governance of China through the window of Zhejiang Province. Zhejiang presents a window to showcase the splendor of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization with its time-honored culture and latest progress; a window to witness the governance philosophy of the CPC with its people leading a happy and secure life; a window to testify the correctness of the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics with the huge progress it has made since the reform and opening up 40 years ago; and a window to display the great power of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era with the development it has achieved under the guidance of the Double Eight Strategy over the past 18 years. After their visit, foreign diplomats will gain a more comprehensive, profound, and objective understanding of Zhejiang and China as a whole.
On behalf of the delegation, Imad Moustapha, Syrian Ambassador to China, expressed his gratitude to officials in Zhejiang for their gracious hospitality, and congratulated on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. He said that through the visit in the past few days, the delegation members have gained first-hand knowledge of the achievements that China, especially Zhejiang, has made under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. It is hoped that this visit will provide an opportunity to further enhance the mutual understanding, tap more cooperation potential, expand the cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, and deepen communication and exchanges in various fields, so as to promote the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and foreign countries to a new level and make joint contribution to the recovery of the world economy and the well-being of the people.
Zhai Jun, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue who accompanied the delegation to Zhejiang, said that the foreign diplomats came to Zhejiang to witness with their own eyes Zhejiang's economic and social development over the years, and they have gained much useful experience from this trip. He believed that the visit will further promote the friendly exchanges between Zhejiang and other countries and actively serve China's overall foreign policy interests.
The meeting was also attended by Zhu Guoxian, chief of the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee; Zhou Jiangyong, Secretary of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee; Chen Yijun, Secretary-General of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee; and Ren Shaobo, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang University Committee.
