Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka Visits Zhejiang

  • From August 16 to 17, Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka led a delegation to Zhejiang accompanied by China's Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian and China's Special Envoy for Pacific Island Affairs Qian Bo.


    On the afternoon of August 16, Yi Lianhong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, met with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and his delegation in Hangzhou. Yi Lianhong first welcomed the Prime Minister and the delegation. He said that China and Fiji are good friends and partners. The Prime Minister's visit to Zhejiang after 30 years fully demonstrates his commitment to deepening China-Fiji friendship and promoting cooperation between Zhejiang and Fiji. Zhejiang stands ready to join hands with Fiji to open a new vista in cooperation and exchanges, deepen pragmatic cooperation in marine fisheries, small commodity trade and other fields so as to make due contributions to the continuous development of China-Fiji comprehensive strategic partnership featuring mutual respect and common development.


    Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka thanked Zhejiang for its warm reception and its positive contribution to friendly exchanges between Fiji and China. He said that Fiji and China have enjoyed a profound friendship, and he is very happy to visit Zhejiang again and this would give him firsthand experience of the great achievements of Chinese modernization. He expressed his hope to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with Zhejiang in marine economy, economic and trade investment, culture and tourism and other aspects to the well-being of the two peoples, and advance friendly relations between Fiji and China.



    On the morning of August 17, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and the delegation visited Everbright Environmental Energy (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. and its garbage incineration power generation project. In the afternoon, they visited Yiwu International Trade City, and learned about its development. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka also went to Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College and its international entrepreneurship park, the school-enterprise collaboration e-commerce live broadcast studio and other practice bases to learn about the school's external cooperation and training of e-commerce workforce.
