Yi Lianhong Meets with Premier of Eastern Cape, South Africa

  • On the afternoon of August 26, Yi Lianhong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, met with Oscar Mabuyane, Premier of Eastern Cape, South Africa, and his delegation in Hangzhou.


    Yi Lianhong first welcomed Oscar Mabuyani and his delegation on behalf of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, the Provincial People's government and people of Zhejiang province. He said that since the establishment of sister-province relations between Zhejiang and Eastern Cape 24 years ago, thanks to close communications between the two governments, economic and trade cooperation has been strengthened, people-to-people exchanges enhanced with fruitful outcomes. Zhejiang is more than ready to further deepen friendly relations and enhance cooperation with Eastern Cape. Taking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of sister-province relations next year as an opportunity, Zhejiang will deepen pragmatic cooperation, create new communication forms and expand cooperation areas in the fields of port logistics, digital economy, marine economy, smart city, modern agriculture, cultural tourism, education and science and technology, so as to build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future and make greater contributions to the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa.


    Oscar Mabuyane thanked Zhejiang for its warm reception. He also expressed his pleasure in visiting China and Zhejiang again. He said that South Africa and China enjoy a profound friendship and ties between between Eastern Cape and Zhejiang have been very close. Eastern Cape will take this visit as an opportunity to learn from Zhejiang's good experience and practices in promoting high-quality economic development and employment, and further increase exchanges and cooperation in manufacturing, agriculture, marine economy, tourism, and digital economy, so as to enhance mutual friendship as well as the well-being of the people of the two provinces.
