From March 19 to 20, Bill Winters, Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered PLC, led a delegation to Zhejiang.

On the afternoon of March 20, Vice Governor Zhang Yanyun met with Bill Winters and his delegation in Hangzhou. Zhang Yanyun welcomed Bill Winters and provided a brief overview of Zhejiang’s economic and social development, its financial sector, and proposals for strengthening cooperation with Standard Chartered in key areas. He said that Standard Chartered Group is welcome to grasp the development opportunities and advantages of Zhejiang to expand its businesses. He encouraged deeper cooperation in cross-border finance, green finance, fin-tech and other fields, while promoting investment cooperation between enterprises from Zhejiang and the UK so as to facilitate more dialogue, exchanges and win-win cooperation between the Chinese and British business communities.

Bill Winters expressed his admiration for Zhejiang’s economic and social development. He highlighted that Zhejiang’s innovative environment and talent pool have contributed to the rapid development of Standard Chartered Bank since it first established its representative office in Hangzhou in 1989. Given Zhejiang’s sustained robust economic growth, he affirmed that Standard Chartered Bank will continue to strengthen its presence in Zhejiang by focusing on customer needs and delivering innovative financial products.

During their visit to Zhejiang, Bill Winters and his delegation also visited Alibaba Group, Geely Group, Rokid, Ant Group and other enterprises.
