Belgian Consul General Pascal Buffin Visits Zhejiang
From March 18 to 19, Belgian Consul General in Shanghai Pascal Buffin led a delegation to Zhejiang.
At noon on March 18, Vice Governor Lu Shan met with the delegation in Hangzhou. Lu Shan warmly welcomed the guests and introduced the remarkable transformation Zhejiang has undergone in recent years under the Double-Eight Strategy. He also expressed hope for deeper cooperation between Zhejiang and Belgium in key areas such as local exchanges, economy and trade, education, science and technology, and tourism. Since the inception of the friendly relations 25 years ago, Zhejiang and West Flanders have demonstrated strong mutual trust with frequent government exchanges, a solid foundation for cooperation, and remarkable outcomes in various fields. He also hoped that this visit would serve as a catalyst to enhance cooperation in high-level exchanges, industrial collaboration, and people-to-people ties between Zhejiang and Belgium.
Consul General Pascal Buffin noted that Zhejiang boasts a premier geographical location and an excellent business environment, with fruitful cooperation already established between the two sides in various fields. The Belgian Consulate General in Shanghai is willing to strengthen communication and collaboration with relevant departments in Zhejiang to deepen cooperation in sectors such as the digital economy, green energy, and high-end manufacturing. He also expressed hope for promoting closer exchanges between universities and organizing more exhibitions and cultural performances to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of both sides.
Xing Huidong, Executive Vice President of Zhejiang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries attended the meeting.
The delegation visited Zhejiang Cultural Center and Zhejiang Gongshang University during their stay in Zhejiang.
